Joanne Lindley
Psychotherapeutic Counselling & CBT
MBACP (Accred)

Welcome

Making the decision to start therapy can be difficult. Finding the right therapist to guide you on your therapeutic journey is highly important for successful personal change and growth. So let me tell you a little bit about me and the way I work. I am a qualified integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and CBT practitioner. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am also a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) and qualified PCE-CfD practitioner. I offer a confidential space where I will listen to you without judgement, and together we can work through any challenges you are experiencing in the present and/or from the past.

I offer short and long-term counselling and I have experience of working with a wide range of issues. I worked in an IAPT Centre providing NHS funded therapy to adults in West London, and consequently I have worked with people of various ages and backgrounds. This includes working with issues that involve a relational, sexual and/or LGBTQ+ focus.

I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, and therefore I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches to treat a variety of mental health issues. These include using creative and somatic interventions to work with childhood trauma and PTSD, but also Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) techniques to treat depression. These are NHS approved approaches, with evidence to support their efficacy. In addition, I am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Again this is an evidence based approach which is particularly effective for working with various forms of anxiety (EG general, social, OCD and phobia), as well for treating anger management problems. CBT also provides you with helpful tools that enable you to self-manage any future mental health problems.  I am also trained to work with grief and loss of any kind, including bereavement from the death of a loved one, but also divorce, separation and pet bereavement.

In the first instance, I will suggest a telephone consultation/assessment where we can explore your hopes and goals for therapy. I can also answer any questions you might have about me or my practice, and we can work out how we might work together. Once we start working together I will suggest regular reviews of our progress. These reviews will use NHS approved mental health audit tools to guide us to a successful outcome.

I offer face-to-face sessions in Sheffield and Manchester, as well as sessions online via Zoom or by telephone.

I also offer clinical supervision to all counsellors and psychotherapists.
